19-year-old shoots at Monroe Police during an arrest attempt for armed robbery

MONROE, LA— On Sunday, in the early morning hours, the Monroe Police were alerted to a robbery on the 900 block of South 7th Street.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they saw a male standing in front of the house. As they were approaching, the 19-year-old opened fire on the police officers and entered the residence.

Shortly after, back up arrived and the Monroe Police Department’s SWAT team surrounded the house. They managed to remove the occupants of the house safely.

Reportedly, the investigation showed that the 19-year-old Ky’Mario Coleman is the main suspect in the robbery and shooting, as they found evidence and one weapon was found in the house.

Coleman was arrested and booked in the Ouachita Correctional Center. He was charged with Armed Robbery and two counts of First Degree Attempted Murder. His bond was set at $1,500,000.
