Monroe, LA – According to the statement, this makes 8,231 newly identified cases reported over the last two days.

5,388 new cases were reported the previous day, which was the third-highest daily count since the beginning of the pandemic.

Of July 22′s newly reported cases, 43% are among ages 18-39.

The most recent increase in case numbers puts the state on the wrong side of a fourth COVID surge.

It’s the first surge since vaccines became available.

The unvaccinated make up a large number of positives.
