Meghan Markle’s family members barely seem to have any kind of relationship with her. Yet, the estranged relatives appear in public every once in a while and make explosive statements about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
One of the most recent statements was made by Markle’s estranged half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, who claimed her marriage to Prince Harry has a death sentence.
Thomas, a window fitter from Oregon, hasn’t spoken to Markle in about 10 years; yet, he unabashedly commented on her marriage to Prince Harry and claimed it was doomed. He also said Markle “walked all over” her first husband, Trevor Engelson, and thinks she would do the same to Prince Harry.
“The guy that she was married to the first time, she just walked all over him and dumped him,” 55-year-old Thomas said on the Australian reality TV show, Big Brother VIP.
Despite having never met Prince Harry and barely knowing his half-sister, Thomas said in a trailer for the show: “Harry’s on the chopping block next,” as quoted by the Daily Mail.
Ever since Thomas entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in Australia, he has become immensely vocal about his half-sister’s marriage to Prince Harry. In the very first trailer for the show, Thomas introduced himself right before calling his half-sister “very shallow.”
“I’m Meghan Markle’s brother, I’m the biggest brother of them all,” Thomas said in the previously-aired trailer. “I told Prince Harry, I think she’s going to ruin your life. She’s very shallow.”
Back then, Thomas was asked how he felt about not being invited to the royal wedding between his half-sister and the son of the British’s throne’s heir.
“I’m not bitter, just baffled,” he said. “It’s hurtful given how close we once were. I’m confused and a little distraught because here is a person knowing the position she’s in and knowing the scrutiny she’s under and yet she has forgotten her flesh and blood.”
It was also reported that Thomas sent Prince Harry a letter before the couple tied the knot in May, 2018. He wrote in the letter that it wasn’t “too late” for him to call off their wedding.
She is “obviously not the right woman for you,” Thomas said about his sister, whom he also once called a “phony” and a “conceited woman.”
Based on his own admission, the very last time Thomas met Markle was in the year 2011. Yet, the estranged brother has repeatedly made claims about her for several years. He also spoke to DailyMail.com about Markle’s relationship with their father and said: “I think Meghan should have handled this differently. I think Meghan should have handled this from the beginning and I think it got ignored and swept under the carpet for so long, it’s a shame where it’s ended up, especially between her and my father. She’s capable of doing anything, she’s just got to want to do it. If she wants to make amends, by all means, she can do that. But she’s got to want to do it.”
