OUACHITA PARISH, LA — On Friday morning, Jan.28, a terrible car crash happened between two vehicles on LA Highway 840-1 at the intersection of Smith Street. The 45-year-old Kelly Lewis victim died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
Reportedly, a 2015 Chevrolet Cruz, driven by 30-year-old Brandon Link, was heading west on LA Highway 840-1. Lewis was heading east on the highway in her 2015 Nissan Rogue, when Link’s vehicle crossed the center line and crashed directly into Lewis’s vehicle.
From the severity of her injuries, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Link was taken to the nearest hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger who was with Link is in critical condition and was airlifted to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport-Academic Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
