LACOMBE, LA–On Friday, Feb.4, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s officers searched a storage unit and seized over 40 guns, methamphetamine and marijuana.
Reportedly, a deputy was on patrol in Lacombe and saw a suspicious vehicle near a storage complex. When they approached the car, they noticed a woman sleeping inside.
“Deputies then located the male, 37-year-old Michael Malone of Covington, Louisiana, in an opened storage unit and observed all the weapons,” according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The police shared a picture with the total of 41 guns seized with the search warrant.
There were also found small amounts of suspected methamphetamine and marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
STPSO says, “Malone was a convicted felon and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest due to a probation violation.”
The Louisiana man is facing these charges: fugitive on the outstanding probation warrant, contempt of court pertaining to a failure to appear, felon in possession of the firearms, possession of the firearms in the presence of illegal drugs, possession of methamphetamine, possession of Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Malone is currently booked in the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on $750,650 bond.
Sheriff Randy Smith stated, “Anytime a weapon is taken away from the bad guys and off the street, it is a great day. That means those weapons are not out there in the wrong hands where someone could possibly get hurt. This is an awesome job by those hard-working and dedicated deputies, who are out there protecting and serving and keeping everyone safe. I am proud to be your Sheriff, and we will continue to be vigilant in taking weapons away from criminals, who are not allowed by law to possess them.”
