New Orleans, LA – New Orleans Police Department officials said the fatal shooting occurred right before 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
It happened at the intersection of Canal and North Derbigny streets.
NOPD First District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the location.
The responding officers located a female seated in the driver’s seat of a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Canal and North Claiborne Avenue.
A male subject was also located lying on the adjacent street corner.
Both subjects were found to have sustained gunshot wounds.
The female victim was declared deceased on scene, while the male victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital.
A dog was also located on scene and was found to have sustained a gunshot wound.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the suspect responsible for this incident.
