Monroe, LA – According to the police officials, the shooting occurred on June 18, 2021, approximately at 9:15 p.m.
Police responded to the 5100 block of Wilton Drive.
When the officers arrived on scene, they found a 18-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.
His name is Michael Sherman and he was taken to a local hospital.
Unfortunately, he later died as a result of his injuries.
The incident started with an argument between two females. They say the argument ended with one person being hit in the head with a metal bat and Sherman being shot.
Dennis Benton was arrested for aggravated second-degree battery after being accused of hitting one of the female victims in the head with a metal bat.
