Deadly deer disease appears in Tensas Parish, authorities on alert

TENSAS PARISH, LA— This is a Louisiana’s first case of a lethal deer disease that has been confirmed in a deer killed in Tensas Parish.

Supplemental feeding and mineral licks is banned in order to prevent the deer from gathering.

As there were more than 100 cases of chronic wasting disease in Mississippi with which the parish borders with, it is assumed that the disease is spreading from that direction.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries did not say how far from the state line the deer was shot.
