MONROE, LA— The Monroe Police received a call on Friday, Jan.28 about a car theft that happened on the 1000 block of Winnsboro Road.
They reviewed a video footage where they saw Travis Payton, 35 who entered the vehicle and drove away.
The deputies located Payton on the 500 block of Thomas Road in West Monroe, where he crashed the car.
Reportedly, Payton told the officers that he had permission from his friend John to borrow the victim’s car and that he didn’t know he stole the car. He told the police that he is willing to go to jail for the crime.
Travis Payton was treated for minor injuries and then was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center for Theft of a motor vehicle.
