MONROE, La. – The Greater Ouachita Water Company will be distributing cases of bottled water on Feb. 20, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Swartz Recreational Center.

The following press release is from the Greater Ouachita Water Company

GOWC in conjunction with the Ouachita Parish Police Jury will be distributing cases of bottled water today at the Swartz Recreational Center located at 520 Lincoln Hills Dr. for customers in the Lakeshore-Swartz water system from 2-5 p.m. today while supplies last. Limit one case per vehicle. The Lakeshore-Swartz Water System is supplied by water purchased from the City of Monroe.

GOWC is under a bulk water purchase contract with the City of Monroe which requires the City to deliver water to the Lakeshore-Swartz water system at a minimum of 50 psi. The current psi at the meter station is 25 psi which limits the amount of water GOWC can get from the City. This amount is insufficient to supply our needs.

GOWC and Parish officials have reached out to the Mayor’s office to offer any assistance we may be able to provide in coming up with a solution. To date, our calls have not been returned.

As a reminder, GOWC customers who experience water leaks due to frozen pipes, please call the customer service center at (318) 322-3741 to schedule a technician to turn water off at the meter. Customer service technicians will turn water back on once damaged pipes on customer side of meter have been repaired.
