MONROE, La. – Louisiana Tech committed three errors and issued five free passes Wednesday night as ULM capitalized in route to a 12-4 win over the Lady Techsters at Warhawk Field.

Zoe Hicks hit her first career home run in a LA Tech uniform while she joined Madie Green and Brooke Diaz with two hits each but the Lady Techsters couldn’t overcome the plethora of miscues in the five inning loss.

Hicks tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third inning when she blasted a two-run shot over the centerfield fence against ULM starters Murphy Williams.

Trailing 4-2 in the top of the fourth inning, Tech tied the score again. With two outs Kailey Anderson singled home Diaz and then came around to score on a bunt single by Hicks and a throwing error by the ULM defense.

Tech’s demise began in the bottom of the fourth inning. An error, a walk and a hit batter loaded the bases with two outs. ULM then took the 6-4 lead on a single by Ana Hogan, who ended the night with three hits and seven RBI for the Warhawks.

The deficit increased to 8-4 on a misplayed ground ball between first and second base that should have been the third out of the inning, but instead scored two more runs.

The Warhawks put the game to rest in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs, Jayden Mount singled to centerfield to plate a run and then Hogan followed with a game-ending three-run home run to left field.

Audrey Pickett (1-6) took the loss, allowing eight runs – only three earned – on six hits and two walks in 3.2 innings of work. Bre Hernandez came on in relief and allowed four runs on three hits and two walks in 1.0 inning of action.
