Monroe man arrested on 2nd degree murder warrant

MONROE, La. – Authorities have arrested a man accused of a July 2020 murder in Monroe.

According to the Monroe Police Department, they were conducting an investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle. Police say during their investigation, they got in contact with 41-year-old Bobby Ray Thompson in the 3000 block of Church Street.

MPD says during the incident, they found out that Thompson was wanted for a shooting homicide that happened last July at Parkview Apartments. They say the incident claimed the life of Demetric Collins.

Thompson was arrested and booked at the Ouachita Correctional Center for theft of a motor vehicle, resisting, possession of a firearm by felon, and the warrant for 2nd degree murder.
