MONROE, La. – A Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy is being recognized by OPSO Sheriff Jay Russell and Chief Deputy Marc Mashaw for his part in saving the life of a driver involved in a head-on collision.

According to OPSO, on March 29, 2021, Deputy Chris Lambert was called to a reported head-on vehicle incident on Desiard Road, U.S. Highway 80 in Monroe. They say Lambert was in the area and arrived on the scene in less than a minute. Authorities say when Lambert arrived, he saw bystanders attempting to remove the driver from a crashed vehicle that was engulfed in flames, but the efforts by the bystanders failed.

Eventually Dy. Lambert was joined by a second OPSO deputy, Casey Albritton, and Louisiana State Police Trooper Darren Ragland. Both Albritton and Ragland assisted Lambert with rescuing the driver from the vehicle.

Sheriff Jay Russell commends the efforts of all three men for their actions that no doubt led to saving the driver’s life. You can read the full story below.
