MONROE, La. – Ouachita Parish Police Juror Scotty Robinson responded to U.S. Representative Ralph Abraham announcing he is not seeking re-election in Congress this year. Robinson said he is looking forward to running for Abraham’s seat.

“I really enjoy the job and I’m just looking forward to serving in a different capacity here in the future,” Robinson said.

Wednesday, Congressman Abraham announced his retirement.

This comes after serving three terms for Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District.

Robinson initially announced he is running for Congress on Facebook in October. He said in a video on Facebook, “I know that I can represent the people of the 5th Congressional district with the honesty and integrity they deserve. That’s why I’m excited to tell you that I plan on running for Congress in 2020.”

Robinson is a native of West Monroe and said he just started his third term on the Ouachita Parish Police Jury. He said he is looking forward to serving his community on a federal level.
