Shooting on Matthew Street sends two people to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Monroe, LA – According to the police officials, the shooting occurred around 2:17 p.m. Friday afternoon.

It happened in the 700 block of Matthew Street.

Monroe Police Department officers responded to a shooting call.

Officers located two victims suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

They were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Detectives were called to the scene and determined that the incident was isolated between two groups of individuals that were personally known to each other. 17-year-old De’quris Lawrence has been established as the suspect. Lawrence is currently wanted for attempted second degree murder as well as burglary charges stemming from a prior incident.
