Sisters take State, headed to National Powerlifting Championships

MONROE, La. – On Saturday, April 24th, Aubree and Gracie Anable competed in the Louisiana State Games Powerlifting Meet in West Monroe, LA.  Aubree, a fifth grader at Vernon Middle School, finished 1st Place in the 43 kg weight class with a 75 lbs squat, 50 lbs bench press, and 120 lbs deadlift.  Her sister, Gracie, a fourth grader at West Leesville Elementary, finished 1st Place in the 47 kg weight class with a 125 lbs squat, 55 lbs bench press, and 135 lbs deadlift.

Both of the girls have been powerlifters for the past two years and play softball with the Leesville Dixie Youth Program.  Aubree currently holds two Louisiana powerlifting records, while Gracie currently holds eight Louisiana powerlifting records.  The girls look to add to their record totals when they compete at the 2021 USA Powerlifting Youth National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida on June 15th.  Aubree and Gracie train with their dad, Derek Toro, who is the owner of Toro Total Sports Performance, LLC.  Toro Total Sports Performance, LLC focuses on “Creating the Stars of Tomorrow” by working with young athletes to prepare them for current and future sporting endeavors.
