MONROE, La. – Authorities say two offenders at a youth secure care center in Monroe attacked an employee and tried to escape.
According to court records, it happened on Sept. 18, at Swanson Center for Youth.
Those records state that 18-year-old Delandro Fleming and a juvenile took security keys from a Juvenile Justice Specialist and escaped their dormitory. The records say video footage shows Fleming taking the keys while the juvenile offender choked the employee.
They were both apprehended after they attempted to climb the perimeter fence at several locations.
Fleming was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on Sept. 22 on charges of simple escape, simple robbery, and battery of a correctional center employee.
