MONROE, La. – A complete performance by Troy’s offense and defense powered the Trojans past ULM, 5-2, to pick up their fourth series sweep of the season Sunday at the ULM Softball Complex.
With the win, head coach Beth Mullins earned her 200th career win. Coincidentally, the head coach’s 100th win was at ULM back in 2018.
Katie Lively broke the scoreless streak in the top of the third blasting a solo shot over the left-center wall.
A pair of hits by Katie Webb and Anslee Finch set up Webb to score off of a Warhawk field error to cap off a two-run third frame.
After Libby Baker (5-3) blanked ULM (13-23, 4-10 Sun Belt) in back-to-back innings, Webb sent a long ball flying over the right-center wall to plate the third run of the contest.
The Warhawks evaded the shutout when Kelsey Giddens leadoff with a double and came around to score off of a passed ball in the bottom of the fifth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Jade Sinness monstered a two-run shot to add a pair of insurance runs for the Trojans (29-9, 13-3 Sun Belt).
Giddens attempted to spark a rally in the bottom of the seventh in the same fashion as in the fifth, leading off with a double and coming around to score on a wild pitch, but was left stranded.
Baker earned her fifth win of the season scattering two runs, five hits and two walks.
Adrianna Chavarria (1-7) suffered the loss for ULM allowing five runs, seven hits and six walks.
