MONROE, La. – The UAB football program has announced the addition of two nonconference opponents to its future schedules with home-and-home series against UConn and Louisiana-Monroe through the 2024-2026 seasons.
The Blazers face former AAC member UConn — the first time facing the Huskies in program history — at Protective Stadium, Nov. 9, 2024, and make the return trip to Connecticut, Nov. 1, 2025.
The Huskies became independent after leaving the AAC in 2019 and opted out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Blazers and Louisiana-Monroe open their series, Sept. 7, 2024, at ULM, and meet again two seasons later, Sept. 12, 2026, at Protective Stadium. UAB and Louisiana-Monroe have met twice on the field, splitting the series between the 1998-1999 seasons.
UAB opens the 2021 season against Jacksonville State, Wed. Sept. 1, at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery. The Blazers return 18 starters from last year’s C-USA title team, including 12 seniors that took advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA.
