MONROE, La. – 25,000 Louisiana residents will be diagnosed with cancer this year, according to the Louisiana Cancer Foundation.
Detecting cancer early is an important part of increasing a person’s odds of survival. To that end, the Louisiana Cancer Foundation hosts cancer screening and awareness events throughout the year.
The next one is a breast cancer screening event in Monroe on Feb. 18 and 19. For those without insurance, there will be no charge.
It’s being held at the Northeast LA Cancer Institute at 411 Calypso Street, which is at the corner of Hall and Calypso streets.
You must make an appointment beforehand. To make an appointment, call: (888) 616-4687.
You will be required to wear a mask if you attend.
You are eligible to get a screening if you have not been screened within the last 12 months.
