Man accused of second degree murder in Monroe

MONROE, La. – A West Monroe man has been arrested after being accused of second-degree murder, authorities say. The incident happened on April 6, 2021, at around 3:00 p.m. at the Kingsway Apartments in Monroe.

According to the Monroe Police Department, they found the victim, Annnais King, at the apartment complex suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel attempted to save King, but he died as a result of his injuries.

MPD says they were able to take the suspect, Decarvious Sellers into custody. They say Sellers has been arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder and illegal carrying of a weapon.

Police say at the time of the homicide, Sellers was also awaiting attempted second-degree murder charges stemming from a shooting that happened in March of 2020 at Shelling Elementary.
