MONROE, La. -Authorities say a fatal crash in Ouachita Parish has claimed the life of a West Monroe man. The incident happened on March 12, 2021, shortly before 10:00 p.m.

According to the Louisiana State Police, they got a call in regard to a fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 34 in Ouachita Parish. They say the crash claimed the life of 43-year-old Matthew Gosch of West Monroe.

Police say an initial investigation revealed that Gosch was going south on LA Hwy 34 on a motorcycle when he went off the right side of the roadway and overturned. They say Gosch was ejected from the motorcycle.

LSP says Gosch sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains an ongoing investigation.

State police say they encourage all riders to take an approved motorcycle safety course. These courses teach safe riding practices and help you apply safe riding strategies that can help reduce your chance of injury should a crash occur.

Making good choices while riding a motorcycle, such as never driving while impaired and obeying all traffic laws, can often mean the difference between life and death. If motorists witness hazardous situations or possible impaired drivers, they may dial *LSP (*577) to be connected to the nearest Troop to report that activity.

Troop F Troopers have investigated 10 fatal crashes in 2021, resulting in 13 fatalities.
