Richland Parish crash claims the life of Lake Providence woman

RICHLAND PARISH, La. – Authorities say a single-vehicle crash in Richland Parish has claimed the life of a woman from Lake Providence. The incident happened on May 3, 2021, at around 4:15 p.m.

According to the Louisiana State Police, a vehicle driven by 56-year-old Reta Lyons was going northbound on Louisiana Highway 17, just north of Delhi. They say while Lyons was attempting to pass another vehicle, she lost control of her vehicle and went off the road into a ditch

LSP says after driving through the ditch, her vehicle hit a utility pole. Lyons was airlifted to a local hospital where she later died due to her injuries. A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

In 2021, Troop F has investigated 17 fatal crashes resulting in 20 deaths.
