Two juveniles arrested in connection with double shooting at Parkview Apartments

MONROE, La. – Authorities have arrested two juveniles in connection with a double shooting incident that left one person dead and another injured. The incident happened on May 1, 2021, at around 7:30 p.m.

According to the Monroe Police Department, they responded to the incident at Parkview Apartments near building one. They say when they arrived on the scene, they found one man, Tevin Melton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. MPD says another person was located suffering from non-life-threatening wounds.

Police say they attempted life-saving measures on the Melton and immediately took him to a local hospital, but he died as a result of his injuries.

Authorities say two juvenile suspects were identified and located near the scene. Detectives were able to get information connecting the juveniles to the shooting. They say both suspects were arrested and booked in Green Oaks Detention Center for second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile. Detectives say this crime was gang-related.
