TaD’s Louisiana Cooking, which has locations in Louisiana and Texas, will open a Youngsville location near Sugar Mill Pond, the company announced.
The company recently bought property on the south side of the traffic circle at Bonin Road and Milton Avenue from Sugar Mill Development for $605,000, according to records filed with the Lafayette Parish Clerk of Court.
The move into the Youngsville market is one the company finds ideal, said Dory Steen, the company’s regional director.
“One thing we look for is up and coming communities, and Youngsville is growing like crazy,” she said. “Same with the other places. They’re all locations where we can get in the mix more with families. That sports complex was a huge deal for us. We want to put some roots down and grow our business in an organic way rather than throwing a bunch of locations up like other restaurants that don’t get invested in their clientele.”
TaD’s, which began when Darrin Cobb opened DC’s Sports Bar and Steakhouse in Eunice about 30 years ago, expanded in 2014 with a location in Katy, Texas and now has locations in Tomball and College Station. It also has a Lake Charles location at 3624 Ryan St. and will open more locations next year, Steen said.
The College Station location opened in November despite many restaurants struggling during the coronavirus pandemic that kept many from offering in-person dining. The majority of the TaD’s locations have drive-thru windows, and the company was able to keep business going that way.
Construction will start on the Youngsville location in June and could be complete by November, Steen said. It will employ 60 and is already accepting applications online for all positions.
The property is the third one adjacent to that traffic circle to be sold recently. Last month Total Commercial Realty of Lafayette bought the two lots west of the circle for just under $1 million, and the company is seeking commercial tenants for those properties.
