MONROE, La.– The Troy Softball team is set to host No. 14 Louisiana in a pivotal three-game Sun Belt Conference series starting Sunday at the Troy Softball Complex.
The battle for the top spot in conference standings commences with a doubleheader Sunday starting at 1 p.m. with the series finale finishing up Monday at 1 p.m.
The Trojans (26-6, 10-0) reside at the top of conference standings currently bolstering a 10-game win streak while the Ragin’ Cajuns (29-6,11-1) are just a game behind Troy and on a 14-game win streak.
Veteran Katie Webb leads Troy’s offense batting at .367 with eight doubles, three home runs and 23 RBIs.
The Trojan pitching staff is led by reigning Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week Leanna Johnson. The righty picked up her 15th win of the season after tossing a two-hit shutout over South Alabama on Wednesday.
SCOUTING LOUISIANA:
The Ragin’ Cajuns enter the weekend on a 14-game win streak dating back to March 21. Louisiana last suffered a loss against UT Arlington in game two of the series (March 20).
Ciara Bryan leads the Ragin’ Cajuns at the plate batting at a .458 mark with eight doubles, three triples and four home runs. Freshman Kendra Lamb and senior Summer Ellyson see the majority of time in the circle. The two combined for 199 strikeouts over 184.1 innings of work.
