Woman shot and killed in Monroe, one other seriously injured

MONROE, La. – Police in Monroe are investigating a shooting that left one woman dead and another person seriously injured.

According to the Monroe Police Dept., officers responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Jason Drive on Jan. 4, 2020, just before 7:30 p.m. Police say they found two people outside of a home. Both had been shot.

Police say 23-year-old Samarius Colquitt died as a result of her wounds. The other victim was airlifted to a regional hospital and is in serious but stable condition.

MPD says an investigation is underway and investigators are asking the public for any help they can provide.
