MONROE, La. – The mass vaccination began today at the Monroe Civic Center. This two-day event will continue tomorrow and Ochsner LSU Health officials said there’s more mass vaccinations to come.
“We’re very excited. This is our first of many to come. We’re very excited about the opportunity to partner with the Louisiana Department of Health, and to see the organization and people coming out. It’s just awesome,” said the CEO of Ochsner LSU Monroe Medical Center, Mark Randolph.
It’s been such a success that they’re already planning another mass vaccination at the end of the month.
750 Johnson & Johnson doses were given at the mass vaccination today. The hundreds of people who got their shots today said they can’t wait to get back to normal.
“I’m ready to stop wearing these masks and get back to normal life and I really hope that everybody comes out to get vaccinated,” said Jerika Reese after receiving her vaccine.
You still have the opportunity to get vaccinated. 750 doses of the Moderna vaccine will be offered tomorrow March 17 from 10:30 am to 4 by appointment only.
Due to severe weather tomorrow they will not be opening the drive-thru tent for the handicapped.
